The Silent Killer
By admin | May 7, 2008
Hepatitis is sometimes known as the “silent killer” because of the lack of symptoms and the fact that the symptoms are very similar to that of a cold or flu. Some people have no symptoms whatsoever making it very difficult for people to be aware that they are carrying the disease and of course because of this the disease spreads easily.
Hepatitis is in simple a term is inflammation of the liver and if left untreated it can lead to cirrhosis of the liver. Treatments are readily available for Hepatitis and many people are unaware of this, or as I said before are unaware that they have the disease.
World Hepatitis Day is on May 19th and is a campaign promoting the awareness of the disease in order to improve cure rates and treatment rates. Visit http://www.aminumber12.org to support the up coming campaigns and to find out more information about this “silent killer” disease.
